Striker Sam Parkin returns to action this evening when Town's reserves take on West Ham at Needham Market's Bloomfields (KO 7pm). Parkin has been out of action since breaking his ankle in November.

Vemund Brekke Skard became the 50th overseas player to make a senior appearance for the Blues when he came on as a late sub at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Skard is also the first Norwegian ever to play for Town, the 19th non-British or Irish nationality to represent the club.

Boss Joe Royle spent another post-match press conference bemoaning a harsh sending off after Ricardo Fuller received the Blues' sixth red card of the season. It has emerged that the linesman felt the Jamaican had gestured towards him rather than the crowd, leading to the dismissal.

Ricardo Fuller was controversially sent off, apparently for gestures made towards the crowd, as the Blues drew 2-2 at Crystal Palace. The Jamaican was given his marching orders on 76, 10 minutes after netting Town's second equaliser of the game, the first having been a Tom Soares own goal.

Town's play-off hopes appear to be over after losing 3-1 at Preston. The Blues were controversially reduced to 10 men early on when Richard Naylor was sent off but then went ahead via Jason De Vos. However, as Town legs tired in heavy conditions, David Nugent (2) and Patrick Agyemang won the points.

Boss Joe Royle says his trip to watch Ireland's U21s take on Sweden at Drogheda on Tuesday night was not to catch Bohemians frontman Stephen Ward in action as was reported in Ireland. The Town manager says that he was far more interested in the Swedish players in action.

Alan Lee, Jimmy Juan and Fabian Wilnis all face fitness tests on Saturday morning before a decision is made on whether they are ready to face Preston at Deepdale. Lee and Juan were back in full training on Thursday but Wilnis remains out after injuring his knee in last weekend's 2-0 defeat of Leicester City.
